MINISTRY

In 2007, a summer mission trip to Peru set off a chain reaction that completely altered our life’s direction. Bill returned to the Andes that October to teach on Creation to the Quechua people, where he learned the sobering reality of the region. Years of terror under the Shining Path during the ’80s and ’90s had taken a devastating toll—many pastors and community leaders were killed. In the aftermath, over 1,200 local churches were left in the hands of willing believers chosen to lead simply because they knew how to read.

The national leaders pleaded for training, and a missionary family who had previously served in the area was eager to help them. However, when we tried connecting them with existing mission organizations, we were told it would take 7 to 10 years to re-enter the region. The need was right then. We prayed, stepped out in faith, and launched Believer’s Bridge specifically to serve as the sending agency to get that missionary family back into the field.

Beyond our yearly trips to Peru to support the work, we felt led to gain our own full-time missionary experience. Naturally, we headed to my birthplace—Brazil! In 2012, we moved our family to the mouth of the Amazon, serving until nearly 2019. Our days were packed: administering an international Christian school, hosting apologetics conferences, and preaching in campus and local churches.

We returned to the States in late 2018, and when COVID-19 hit, we pivoted by turning our 5-acre property into a flower farm to help support ourselves. We continued our annual ministry trips to Brazil to teach at a Bible institute in São Paulo—a tradition that continues to this day!

Eventually, Bill transitioned into work as a capital campaign consultant, which provided a stable income and allowed me to trade the full-scale flower farm for a life on the road with him. The 5-acre field may be in the past, but no matter where our travels take us, I always manage to keep a few flowerpots blooming!

Speaking of that 5-acre property, OUR HOME IN CHELSEA, AL IS CURRENTLY FOR SALE! If you (or someone you know) are looking for a beautiful place, with plenty of space—a hobby farm and a rich history of flowers—you can view the listing here on Homes.com.
